Basic fire fighting
Aims
To develop the basic knowledge and skills necessary to be able to take appropriate individual action(s) in the event of a fire at the work-site.
Outcomes
Participants will be able to:
identify the components of the fire triangle
list selected reasons for fire spread and identify corresponding actions to minimize fire spread
demonstrate correct selection and proper usage of portable fire fighting equipment when given selected fire condition(s) in controlled situation(s)
give an explanation of the following, to the satisfaction of his/her Supervisor, within one week of returning to the work-site:
his personal firefighting duties and responsibilities
the site evacuation and personnel recording/checking procedure
the location(s) and type(s) of portable firefighting equipment available on site
the contact procedure for company emergency services in the event of a site fire
present a simple plan for effective fire protection at their worksite.
