Basic workplace first aid
Aims
For the participants to be competent in resuscitation and the management of shock, bleeding and burns. Upon successful completion of a practical and theory assessment a certificate of competency is issued, valid for three years.

understand the respiratory system
understand the circulatory system
apply Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation CPR (demonstration & practice)
be able to use the Automated External Defibrillator
recognise and manage anaphylaxis
deal with shock
control bleeding & infection control
deal with soft tissue injuries
recognize and manage fractures (demonstration)
manage a burns casualty
evaluation of performance and stress management
