Breathing apparatus wearer / confined space entry

Aims
To develop the practical skills and knowledge in the use of breathing apparatus and requirements for working in vessels or confined spaces.

Outcomes
Participants will be able to:
identify a confined space and associated hazards,
list the characteristics of gases/contaminants found in confined spaces,
list the main items of planning and acceptable methods of mechanical isolation,
demonstrate knowledge of the PTW system, as it relates to confined space entry,
identify the personal and respiratory protective equipment to be worn,
check and use breathing apparatus and other RPE,
list the main hazards in gas freeing, cleaning, blasting, painting and welding operations in confined spaces,
carry out the duties of a standby man,
enter and exit a vessel correctly and safely,
use the communication systems and signals used when working in confined spaces,
list the main points of the emergency procedures related to vessel entry,
The course includes a written knowledge assessment and practical assessment.
