Advanced banksman level 2 (offshore)

Aims
To provide participants who have completed an approved Rigging& Slinging and Banksman 1 course in theoretical and practical knowledge of Banksman duties in an offshore work environment (at an advanced level). The training is conducted in accordance with the Brunei Shell P.L.I.C. and also refreshes and updates current qualified personnel on any changes in safety and operational procedures.

Content
1. Be aware and use of correct PPE
2. Revision of Banksman 1 duties
3. Revision in the use of hand held radio and terminology used
4. Revision in the use of and demonstrate hand signals
5. Undertake a risk assessment
6. Be able to develop and understand lift plans for routine offshore lifts
7. Be able to liaise with personnel involved with the offshore lift eg. Crane operator & rigger
8. Be able to check lifting gear SWL/WLL is suitable for load weight & report and deal with faulty equipment
9. Be confident to effectively control and instruct Riggers in their duties
10. Be confident to safely and efficiently control lift in consideration of the variables associated with working offshore
11. Be able to prepare landing place
12. Be able to undertake a blind lift and in conjunction with another banksman
13. Be able to barricade and ensure non-essential personnel are not permitted to enter work area
14. Be able to perform post operational inspection on equipment
Assessment:
2 written exercises
Practical assessment
o Direct crane movements
o Lifting various loads
o Placing loads on `live' landing place
o Conduct blind lifts and multiple Banksman
