Waste management

Aims
To ensure participants understand environmental issues relating to wastes including legal and other requirements. To provide the necessary knowledge of the strategies for effective management of waste streams that can be applied to the participant's organisation.

Outcomes
On completion of the course, participants will be able to: Describe Types, characteristics and sources of wastes (Hazardous & non-Hazardous) Reference Waste Management Standards, Legislation and Regulations Understand the HS&E impacts of poor waste management, the concept of “duty of care”, and prioritizing wastes Implement waste management strategies Communicate the need for proper waste control to work colleagues Understand the procedures for control and monitoring of wastes Demonstrate understanding and awareness of waste labeling Describe Waste Disposal Procedures Maintain records of all waste management activities
