To introduce participants to the hazards, effects and controls required when handling chemicals. To enable participants to safely handle a variety of chemicals.

Understand the different types of Biological Hazards
Understand the importance of Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations
Understand the stages of a COSHH assessment
Understand Workplace Exposure Limits (WEL's)
Understand the Chemical (Hazard Information and Packaging) Regulations 2002 (CHIP 3)
Demonstrate and understand the need and use of chemical labeling and safety data sheets
Understand the Control Measures required under the COSHH Regulations
Types and use of Air Sampling techniques
Correctly select the appropriate PPE, including RPE, eye and body protection
Understand what to do in an emergency situation due a chemical spillage
